Candidate information: “Why Abby?”
The following is a summary of positions and goals published on Abby Burke Carroll’s campaign website. It is presented as campaign information, not as an endorsement by Athens Unfiltered.
Her campaign says she would emphasize respectful treatment of residents and community partners and conduct herself with professionalism when disagreements arise.
She proposes a long-term infrastructure approach, including a ten-year planning framework for immediate, future and lower-priority needs and budgeting ahead for major assets.
She proposes incentives for downtown property owners to renovate and preserve traditional building features while supporting new businesses and development.
Her campaign calls for greater public access to city meetings and information, clearer procedures for boards and committees, and regular review of the Athens Municipal Code and City Charter.
She says she would use city plans, budgets and records to identify areas she considers underrepresented or underfunded and use objective measures to help prioritize infrastructure and capital needs.
